The Naiads Cave
Pedestrian underpasses might seem like peculiar places, they are both hard to dismiss and to actually like. They are created for enhancing passage by foot, maybe for someone to stop and dwell for a while, to later continue their route. The Architecture is about movement. By separating the pedestrian from car traffic in an attempt to make the passing easier, with less friction; casual, practical and quickly. At the same time underpasses may create an uneasy feeling, spite the openings at the ends they can make you feel trapped, and in the evening maybe even create nightmares. This specific underpass, between the subway station Handen, and Haninge Culture centre and library at Poseidon’s square, is in a position of movement itself. It has come to a position where everything soon will stop, and the tunnel will be deconstructed.
Together with our co-creators MYCKET gave the underpass a last celebration, by embracing the long and narrow architecture, by making it unaccustomed in a new costume, to trigger fantasies and daydreams. Considering the importance of impact of people living in an area, MYCKET choose to connect different co-creators to the project; students from a nearby high school and newcomers living in the area. We have developed a method that we call DIG (doing in groups) where the artwork is growing by collective doing. Nobody knows how the final result will look like and learning from each other develops conformity.

Najadernas grotta
Najadernas grotta är ett offentligt konstprojekt i tunneln mellan Handens pendeltågsstation och Poseidons torg. Under våren 2018 träffades MYCKET och ungdomarna vid flera tillfällen för att ge tunneln en helt ny skepnad. Tillsammans har vi skapat ett mönster genom en slags lek som påminner om ”vikgubbar”; där de enskilda delarna sammanfogas till en helhet. Här syns alla medskaparnas olika attityd, lust och förmåga samtidigt som de ingår i ett gemensamt mönster. Gestaltningen vore inte möjligt utan samtliga deltagare. Längs taket sträcker sig ränder i tunnelns riktning, som en slags spår eller banor i en simbassäng. Men det är något annat också, kanske som att titta upp under vattnet mot himlen.
Najadernas grotta är Haninges fjärde offentliga konstprojekt i gångtunnlar där kommunen bjuder in unga att delta under ledning av yrkesverksamma konstnärer som de själva fått vara med om att välja.
