What are the forests up to?







The forests are currently acutely debated. Their importance for life on Earth is fundamental. They are crucial for climate change, for biological diversity and for access to raw materials. One forest is not the same as the other, that is why we write the forests. The exhibition, which MYCKET has created in collaboration with Virserums Art Museum, departs from the contemporary debate surrounding Sweden's forestry and the unsustainable use of resources. We try to hear the voices that are missing from the conversation and understand with whose eyes we look at the forests. And if we can experience the forests' own stories. For the plot of these stories, the horizon of time is central since the lifetime of forests is longer than the lifetime of humans, which means, among other things, that they are managed over generations. In a large-scale installation with sculptures, animations and artifacts, MYCKET leads the visitor through a (mourning) walk that touches on temporal concepts such as duration, pace and restlessness. The exhibition is part of MYCKET's artistic research project Troll perception in the Heartlands – artistic research to widen our imagination capacity (affiliated to Linnaeus University, Design+Change, Växjö, funded by the Swedish Research Council).

Vad går det åt skogarna?







Skogarna är högaktuella och omstridda. Deras betydelse för livet på jorden är grundläggande. De är avgörande för klimatomställningen, för den biologiska mångfalden och för tillgång till råvaror. Den ena skogen är inte den andra lik, därför skriver vi skogarna. Utställningen som MYCKET har skapat och producerat i samarbete med Virserum konsthall uppmärksammar den samtida diskussionen kring Sveriges skogsbruk och vår tids ohållbara resursanvändning. Vi försöker höra de röster som saknas i samtalet och förstå med vems blick vi ser på skogarna. Och om vi kan erfara skogarnas egna berättelser. För intrigen i dessa berättelser är tidshorisonten central eftersom skogarnas livstid är längre än människans livstid vilket bland annat innebär att de förvaltas över generationer. I en storskalig installation med skulpturer, animationer och bruksföremål leder MYCKET besökaren genom en (sorge)vandring som berör tidsliga begrepp som varaktighet, tempo och rastlöshet. Utställningen är del av MYCKETs konstnärliga forskningsprojekt Trollsyn i hjärtmarkerna – konstnärlig forskning som vidgar vår föreställningsförmåga (vid Design + Change, Linnéuniversitetet, finansierat av Vetenskapsrådet).
